Amy Klennert
Jr. High English, History & Socratic Seminar Teacher
From Amy:
In the late 90’s, I homeschooled my three sons. We became involved in a parent partnered homeschool public school. I became the chess coach for the school and later taught math as I worked towards an Advanced Math teaching certificate. I received both my Bachelors of Science and Masters in Education with a certificate in Neuro-education from the University of Portland. By figuring out how the brain learns, I started to develop a teaching practice that truly differentiated the learning of my students. I taught middle school and high school mathematics in public education for twenty years. In 2021, I realized that I could no longer live out my beliefs and values without professing Jesus’ name. I left public education. The problems of our culture cannot be navigated by young people without also being discipled in the knowledge of Jesus. I believe middle school to be the battleground.
Through my oldest son, I became interested in Classical Education. I enjoy reading classical literature and delving into the history of Western Civilization. I realize how important grammar and rhetoric are to engage young minds and teach them to express their thoughts in the written word and through speech. This past year, I have taught a small group of sixth and seventh graders all subjects in a learning pod. Besides teaching the Bible, I enjoy connecting students to God through Language Arts and History. I am very excited to become a part of the Stafford Farm School and I look forward to working with families and staff to holistically educate students.
