SFS Junior High
A unique approach for an
important stage of a child's life
Why a hybrid approach for older kid?
1. More margin & slower pace
The schedule of 3 days of in class learning allows time for families to slow down and enjoy the short and beautiful season of their youth.
2. Interest Led Learning
Kids have time in their weekly at home learning to explore interests, hobbies, and life skills.
3. Community for kids & parents
SFS has a robust community of families that are "in it together" to raise kids intentionally and have a lot of fun in the process!
4. Parents active
in academics
Parents get an up close role in educating their child with the guidance of skilled educational professionals.
More Choice & Opportunity
1
Clubs
Students have the option to join clubs that meet throughout the school year either before school or during lunch. Examples of potential clubs include: chess club, book club, student council, student store, etc...
2
Electives
We want students to have agency as they choose electives that interest them. Students will have their elective period weekly and these will be roughly 8 week classes so students are able to have multiple electives during the week. Electives will be taught by SFS staff, community leaders, industry experts and parent volunteers.

Overnight Trips
One of the things that makes Junior High special is the opportunity to go on overnight trips with your class. From spiritual weekend retreats to outdoor school to a DC trip... we have big ideas for creating amazing experiences they'll never forget!
